Prince FitzChivalry Farseer’s daughter Bee was violently abducted from Withywoods by Servants of the Four in their search for the Unexpected Son, foretold to wield great power. Clerres, where White Prophets were trained by the Servants to set the world on a better path, has been corrupted by greed. Accompanied by FitzVigilant, son of the assassin Chade, Chade’s protégé Spark and the stableboy Perseverance, Bee's only friend, their journey will take them from the Elderling city of Kelsingra, down the perilous Rain Wild River, and on to the Pirate Isles.

Their mission for revenge will become a voyage of discovery, as well as of reunions, transformations and heartrending shocks. Startling answers to old mysteries are revealed. What became of the liveships Paragon and Vivacia and their crews? What is the origin of the Others and their eerie beach? How are liveships and dragons connected?

But Fitz and his followers are not the only ones with a deadly grudge against the Four. An ancient wrong will bring them unlikely and dangerous allies in their quest. And if the corrupt society of Clerres is to be brought down, Fitz and the Fool will have to make a series of profound and fateful sacrifices.

About the author

Robin Hobb is one of the world’s finest writers of epic fiction.She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.

    Robyn Hobb has again led us through a tale of Fitz and the Fool. This book provides a fitting end to this trilogy and all of the related books. I do not want to leave any spoilers, so all I suggest is that readers read all these f the books that lead to this one before taking this journey.

    Great book, absolutely loved it. What a perfect ending for the Fitz and the fool storyline. I hope that this universe gets picked up with another story thread, but it all feels so finalised that I don't know how. Spoiler: dumbeldore dies.

Every captivating story written about the Fitz, the Fool and all those beloved characters that Robin Hobb has created, culminates in a satisfying yet heart breaking finale. This might be the end but I will not stop hoping for more... As always fantastically written, one has to force oneself to stop reading. True joy and pleasure. Please Robin, don't stop here.
