    I have avoided these books foolishly believing them to be a 'Lord of the Rings' rip-off. However, with the popularity of the television show (which I have also avoided) I decided to give this a read to see what all the fuss was about. Besides the usual fantasy aspects, 'A game of thrones' is completely original and wholly enjoyable. Even the traits common to the fantasy genre, Martin makes his own, putting a nice spin on it or a new name. Not just for fantasy fans, this should be read by anyone who hungers for swords, shields, houses, assassinations, and great characters.

    I'm hanging on the edge of my seat for the next book. I love his writing and love the view of the individual chapters being from the point of view of character. My favourite character is the Imp Tyrion. He is witty, cunning and so funny. He is also honest with himself he knows what he is and his place in the world. Highly recommend this book if you have a need for fantasy, adventure and honor

It has the best story line possible and the best part about it that you never know what's going to happen next! This book is certainly worth the 12 bucks because when you read these books they stay with you for a life time
