    Fabulous book, wonderful story which picks up where previous book left off. Takes the reader into a world of kings, dragons, undead and more. Exciting, couldn't put it down. Great stuff.

    It's starting to get a little tedious. The narrative suggests a long build-up to a conflict and resolution that never seems to be realised in a fulfilling way. It just goes on and on and on and has a "must fill up 2000 pages" feel to it. For example, do we really need so many endles Arya chapters describing her journey from South to North on a dirt road? The characters never seem to age or change much. The story feels like it is in limbo or at best crawls at a snails pace. The characters lack warmth and individuality and Tyrion is the only one that feels truly unique. I will soldier on into the third instalment but it is starting to feel a little formlaic, ponderous and overblown. And it is starting to little contrived and I suspect Martin loves the sound of his keyboard lol.
