  • A Good 'Soap Opera'

    The story is difficult to stop reading but it is long and and events play out slowly. I will read the next one too but I hope that there will be a conclusion. It’s definitely time for such.

    Disappointing So much potential to tie the loose ends in to a magnificent completion but seems like the author get lost along the way? What of Arya, Tyrion, Jaime ? Danerys and her dragons?

    After reading a feast for crows, which was rather slow, I found A Dance With Dragons as interesting as the first three books. I just don't want to finish this book because I will have nothing to read afterwards. Four stars because too many cliffhangers and need to wait several years to see how they are resolved.
  • Rambling and over complicated.

    I loved the first book but from then on, although there are fascinating characters and very good story plots, I have found it getting very confusing trying to sort out the increasing number of characters. I thought this was final book, but have heard there is another on the way. It would have been good to have added this information to the final pages of this book. I look forward to seeing how George R.R Martin resolves all the plot threads, and hope we don't have to wait too long!

    The novel itself is fine, but the ebook version lacks a chapter... or at least, my copy of this purchase does. The first section of "The Windblown" is a dozen blank pages.

    Absolutely fabulous!!!! Hope George will write another book as it is difficult to leave this wonderful world. An epic storyline through 5 fantastic books - What a great writer!!!
  • Long winded

    Personally I found this series very disappointing. By the time I got to the final book I couldn't have cared whether "The Imp" ate roast quails stuffed with onions and a light saffron sauce, or starved with his second cousin twice removed. So much detail and so few insights. In some sense it really is a book of our times. Like a highly edited music video it's cut and paste action for a generation with Attention Deficit Disorder. Or as "The Imp" might have said. "all stuffing without any meat".
  • A long ride to not get very far

    I'm a big fan of the series but was not so impressed this time around. By far the longest book so far, but by the time you reach the end and question how much of the story line has progressed, the answer is not much. Fortunate in that it means I won't feel compelled to read all the way through again in 5 years time when the next book comes out!
