  • Truly inspirational!

    One of my favourite books I have ever read. Discovered this in late primary school in the Library and it taught me so much about the true bush culture of Australia. Travelling around in the bush in a caravan while I read this book once bought it all to life. Highly recommend this book and it should be in every school library across Australia!

  • Remarkable & Moving

    It only took a few days to read this, I couldn't put it down. A very moving story of a remarkable man. It gives an authentic snapshot of early Australia, the country and it's people. I consider myself fortunate to have read this. I stumbled across this almost by accident - I saw the great Australian band "Hunters & Collectors" perform a song called "What's a Few Men" - which I later learnt was inspired by Mr Faceys book (and the part detailing his account of Gallipoli). I thoroughly recommend this book to all.
