This is a true story of a journey to hell and back.

In 1994 John Hoskison was a highly respected and successful professional golfer. Then, one evening, after a tournament, he broke a rule of his life by drinking and driving and on the way home he hit and killed a cyclist.

Hoskison knew he'd never escape the pain he'd caused and felt a prison sentence was justified.

As a non-violent first offender, he could have expected to serve part of his sentence in an open prison, but was instead consigned to some of the toughest in Britain; places of medieval-like squalor and violence.

About John Hoskison...

John Hoskison was educated at St John's Leatherhead. After a short time working in a bank, he became a professional golfer and played the European PGA tour until 1985.

He was elected Surrey Professional Golf Association Captain and has twice represented Europe in PGA Cup matches against America. He has also led England in the European Team Championships.
In 1992, he won the Club Professionals Grand Slam including the national title. He regularly contributes to golf magazines.

    I never read this type of book, for some reason I did this time and couldn't put the book down! Having known people in my life on the wrong path I wish I knew about this book before now, if you are someone on that wrong path or know of someone who is READ THIS BOOK! The literature is easy for everyone to read and is captivating! Getting an insight of what it is like 'inside' is frightening. Looking forward to the next book. Tina

    Scary, and yet so so believable how horrific prison life is and how close we all are able to being in there by one very bad mistake. Well written and definitely worth the download.

    An excellent read. Inside is a well presented factual story told in a manner to enthral and involve the reader. In recent months I have read many Factual novels but none so gripping. Once started I could not put it down. Adding to the read was the fact that there was an underlying message to many young people and that was something that should be emphasised.     According to this dribble, prisons and the brave staff who work within the walls are the real criminals!! What trash this book is from a man who minimizes a horrible crime, served a pitifully short sentence and then believes he has all the answers to solve the 'evils' of the criminal justice system. Absolute rubbish, no wonder it was for free!!

    And not just teenagers. Have you ever thought about picking up something that isn't yours? You'll never think it again after reading this. I admit to being someone who thought prisons were too soft: I believed the media hype. Read this book. There is something INSIDE for everyone ( excuse the pun).

    This is a well written book that instantly captures a reader's interest. This is due to its humble and honest portrayal of the author himself. John Hoskison's story could be anybody's, yours or mine. At no point does he back away from the sheer awfulness of what he had to face and endure. His prison experience is frightening and I feel it should be a must read for young people starting out. a lapse in judgment can change a life for the worse so quickly. If this true story prevents just one person entering the prison system it will be worthwhile.
