Judge Raymond Fawcett just became number five.

His body was found in the small basement of a lakeside cabin he had built himself and frequently used on weekends. When he did not show up for a trial on Monday morning, his law clerks panicked, called the FBI, and in due course the agents found the crime scene. There was no forced entry, no struggle, just two dead bodies - Judge Fawcett and his young secretary.

I did not know Judge Fawcett, but I know who killed him, and why.

    I am an avid fan of John Grisham since I first read Pelican Brief all those years ago. He hasn't lost his touch, and I have to finish the book much quicker than I want to.

    I am a huge fan of Grisham but found this book disappointing. The story line felt very contived and the writing felt very forced. Quite predictable, not very believable, not well constructed. Overall I found it a fair read but nowhere near the standard of his previous works.

    Another excellent story, more twists and turns than a game of 'Snakes & Ladders', quirky ending - open enough for a sequel ?. Written well and absolutely devoured, in a literal sense. Absolutely recommended reading.
