Half travel tips and half travel memoir, The Slacker Pilgrim Guide to the Camino de Santiago is a humorous book about the famous pilgrim trail across the north of Spain. In April and May 2012, Sunshine Jen walked 550 miles on the Camino Frances to Santiago de Compostela then onto Finnisterre on the coast. She went looking for answers, but she came back with more questions and no blisters.


  • Another motivating tale!

    Hi, I found this book a pleasure to read. Not scared to tell it as it is, we are led along the way with a colourful account of the journey, warts and all. I am currently preparing to do this in about October 2014 and want real life observations like this as well as your history and culture stuff. It is written in a carefree manner by someone open to new experiences while not being judgmental. All accounts of the Camino give a fresh insight into the journey and this is certainly different from the rest. The movie The Way was my introduction to the Camino so I was interested to see this was the motivation for going back to finish it after a small break. I would hope to be a 'slacker' on the walk as the experience is richer for it. This is a good read with a quirky title; get it and read it and start planning.
