    I found this book to be profoundly unique in so many ways. The fact that it’s structure consists of successive epistles was for me a totally new way of reading a story. Laced with many beautiful word pictures, the book is beautifully written. The way tragedy and humour are superimposed is truly inspiring and a testimony to the resilience of the human condition. This is a very special book.

    Enrapturing and captivating. The characters are so easy to love and you truly don’t wish the book to end. It reminded me of Pride and Prejudice with its strong female lead and the quiet and kind male. A must read for Austen enthusiasts and for those who simply need a good book to read.

    This story was unexpectedly delightful. It drew me into the characters and tales and experiences of them all. Thoughtfully written with enough factual stuff to make me realise how difficult it must of been for those who lived through WWII, without wallowing in it. Recommended.
