About the author

Robin Hobb is one of the world’s finest writers of epic fiction.She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.


  • Another Robin Hobb Classic

    In her latest book Robin Hobb has united many of the characters of her other books about the Rain Wilds, Bingtown and Buck. This is the 2nd book in the trilogy and I hope that it is not too long before number 3 is published. Fitz and the Fool set off in search for Bee who has been kidnapped. There are many twists to the tale and some of the mysteries that have happened in the previous books by the author are explained, while new ones are also encountered. The book starts slowly but builds to a climax that leaves the reader wanting more - well done! Fitz's magics of Wit and Skill are well exploited along with all of his usual strengths and weaknesses. Readers will pick their own hero in this book with mine definitely being Prince FitzChivalry Farseer. It is easier to understand the book and the background to the story if you have read Hobb's earlier trilogies relating to the Rain Wilds and Buck.

    I tried to stretch it out. Honestly I did. But I couldn't put it down....and now I'm finished. The twists and turns held me spellbound. Robin, you've woven your magic yet again. And now I must wait for the final book.
