  • Lazy writing, underdeveloped characters.

    Show, don't tell. What a shame. I liked the idea of this storyline (hence the allocation of one star) but I was so frustrated by the lazy writing and underdeveloped characters and setups that I couldn't keep reading. No time was taken to build the characters through interesting interactions or situations. Instead the author felt the need to describe the main characters looks, her feelings, her thoughts, her motivations, instead of helping us discover her. Shame. Don't waste your time, readers.
  • The misogyny is eyepopping

    Ok... The book pretends the h is a strong independent teenage girl... But she's really not, so all by bias against woman that is thrown around by the characters, the plot and 'the world' building is not really beneficial, because aside from a few useless convos, there are lots of issues and some are big and a couple are HUGE that are left COMPLETELY undealt with. It worries me that the kind of decisions the H made with how he could and did deal with and treat the h were completely brushed off. Especially when the author continues to try and convince the readers (YA) that the h is strong and independent and then has no problems just 'getting over it'.

    Was so in to the story that I finished the book in one day! One of my new favourites. Would've loved to read more from Cade's perspective but the bits we do get still add to the story. Can't wait to read the next instalment to the series!

    Just saying, but this book was originally on Wattpad for free, and it's still there. So...yeah. But otherwise a really good read for young adults.
