Engineers Australia: Women in Engineering

Women in Engineering is a special interest group of Engineers Australia. The group was developed to highlight and support women's participation in the engineering profession. It promotes a forum for information and ideas exchange.

The Women in Engineering National Committee facilitates the exchange of information and ideas between women in engineering groups in all Divisions of Engineers Australia. It also develops strategic initiatives to support and promote women in engineering on a national level. This group is involved in determining current and future needs in research, resources and training with the aim of building opportunities for women already in the profession and encouraging women to consider engineering as a career.

The Women in Engineering National Committee has the vision that engineering is an inclusive profession which values, supports and celebrates the contributions of women to the engineering team. The objectives of the Women in Engineering National Committee are to:

  • Attract women of all ages to engineering careers
  • Retain women in engineering
  • Support women through their engineering career
  • Celebrate the achievements of women in engineering

International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists

INWES, the International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists, is a global network of organisations of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), representing over 250,000 women from 60 countries worldwide. It shares information, knowledge, and ideas that can provide a significant voice, for women engineers, scientists and technologists around the world on issues such as science, technology, environment, sustainable development, and gender equity.

INWES is a not-for-profit corporation run by a Board of Directors made up of twelve Directors representing organisations, three representing corporate members and three individual members.
